The Undertows started in 2013 and remained a local garage band for years, until they decided it was time to give this music a chance to be heard by the world and not just Southern California locals. Originally recorded in 2020 during the Flying Fish sessions for The Undertows’ self-titled (and long overdue) debut LP, The Love Witch finally gets the standalone release it deserves on a black heart-shaped flexi disc. Long requested by fans and perfectly suited for the format, this instrumental creeper blends shadowy surf guitar, hypnotic synth atmosphere, and vintage horror energy into one late-night soundtrack.
The track channels the spirit of cult monster movies, noir mysticism, and dimly lit tiki lounges after closing time. Heavy spring reverb, eerie melodies, and slow-burning tension make this feel less like a traditional surf single and more like something discovered buried in the back of an old occult record shop.
