The Cramps – Smell of Female

Few live records capture chaos as perfectly as Smell of Female.

Recorded at the legendary World Famous Peppermint Lounge in New York City, this six-track live set documents The Cramps at their most primal, dangerous, and unhinged. Blending raw rockabilly, trash culture, garage punk, and horror-movie obsession, the band tears through a set that helped cement their reputation as one of the most influential underground acts of the late twentieth century.

Fronted by the unmistakable Lux Interior and Poison Ivy, The Cramps transformed vintage rock and roll into something darker, stranger, and completely their own. Every performance feels on the verge of collapse, yet somehow remains locked into a hypnotic groove that no other band could replicate.

Originally released in 1983, Smell of Female remains one of the definitive live documents of psychobilly and a perfect introduction to the wild energy that made The Cramps legends.

Why We Carry It

The Cramps created an entire universe where rockabilly, garage rock, horror films, and punk rock collided. Smell of Female captures that world in its purest form. Loud, weird, sleazy, and unforgettable.
